Your academic courses will lay the ground work to ensure that you have the technical skills and knowledge to proceed to your next endeavor. Employers, grad school selection committees and recruiters are all looking for people who not only have the knowledge, but who have practical experience that will encourage their success beyond the classroom. Getting involved in campus life will give you that practical experience to build your leadership skills, practice problem solving, deal with difficult situations, manage people and learn how to work effectively in a team.

Leadership Training and Skill Development
Many of the involvement opportunities on campus come with great leadership training that will develop incredible transferable skills for your future endeavors. At UL, the goal of staff and faculty is to help you succeed. Whether it’s a senior, intermediate or new student leader position, these staff members are there to help provide you with guidance, advice and referrals to services that will help you meet your own goals. Although you will receive great coaching on how to accomplish the duties in your role, your faculty/staff advisor can also help you with questions concerning your academic concerns, future opportunities and provide support in times of stress.

Students at UL are passionate about making our world a better place. Whether it's improving the health and wellness of students at large, collecting clothes for a drop-in center or building a house, students at UL are currently involved in countless projects that make our community stronger.
